Online makeup shopping needn’t be scary. Nor should it be a wild shot in the dark. But it can be difficult, we get that. Before we created Woosh, we rarely bought makeup online. It was just too much of a gamble. Foundation that was too dark, too light or just too ‘wrong.’ Eyeshadows that looked nothing like the photos on the website. Lip glosses that looked great but failed to deliver. Like most of the makeup-wearing world, we’d been burnt way too many times.
That’s why, when we put our heads together to come up with a brand new online makeup brand, we wanted, not only to formulate awesome products that did exactly what they promised, but also to offer a simple, pleasurable and fail-safe experience that offered confidence and delivered results. Because makeup costs money and nobody wants to waste theirs on bad makeup choices that were no fault of their own.

1. Our Formulations Work With Your Skin, Not Against It
No matter how cruddy you believe your skin is (heads up, it’s way more gorgeous than you think), nobody wants super heavy makeup products that sit on the skin, clog up pores and add an inch to the surface of their face! For starters, this looks awful, but also it’s almost impossible to make these kind of formulations work seamlessly with your skin – especially when you’re buying your cosmetics online. After all, everybody’s skin tone is ever so slightly different so unless a makeup brand offers a gazillion shade choices, you’re going to need a little leeway here and there. And even then, if your foundation is so thick you could cut it with a knife (please don’t try that at home!) it’s almost always going to look glaringly obvious.
The key, instead, is to stick with lightweight textures that, for sure, work with your complexion, but are light enough to give just the right amount of coverage while still allowing your real skin to naturally shine through. Our foundation powders, for example, are triple milled which means they’re the finest, smoothest, silkiest powders around – trust we’ve pretty much tried them all. The fact that they’re so lightweight means they look completely natural (result!) and on top of that, most people can get away with three or four different shades!

Knowing whether your skin is medium light or more on the medium tan side is not easy. In your mind your skin may be darker or fairer than it really is because it kind of depends on what you’re comparing it to.
