#WOOSHAPPROVED: A SNEAK PREVIEW OF THE MOST WEARABLE FALL TRENDS
Catwalk trends aren’t always the most doable. But, bear with us, because if you sift through the extreme, graphic eyeliners and tube skirts you can barely walk in, fashion runways can offer a lot of inspiration as the seasons change.
And we have some good news: 2024 fall fashion and beauty trends are more ‘real life’ than ever. Cue huge sighs of relief as we say a welcome farewell to summer’s particularly unwearable trend of wearing no pants. Or a skirt. Like, just wearing briefs as your bottoms. We mean, come oooon. We’re not even sure we’d have done that in our 20s!
On that note, here’s a round-up of some of our favorite ways to comfortably and stylishly update your 2024 closet and makeup bag as you head into fall.
The Trend: Red, Red Wine
Dark, berry tones are everything for hair this fall (think Dua Lipa’s current hair color), but burgundy, maroon, and all things wine-colored are also one of the biggest color stories in fashion. A super stylish shade that’s not seen a huge amount of trend action in recent years (except on your lips, but more on that in a minute), burgundy is a very easy color to wear and goes with everything from pinks to olive greens, via your classic black and white.
Burgundy started to creep into fashion trends earlier this summer, but c’mon who wants to wear such a rich, elegant color when the sun’s out? Not us. Which is why we’re only now going to invest in this stunning 8 Other Reasons Emily Shoulder Bag in Cherry. It's made with faux leather but feels buttery soft and is the perfect size for everyday use. We're so in for all of that.
The Trend: Smokey Eyes… In Many Guises
It’ll be no surprise to hear that smokey eyes are making a fall comeback. Because, wait, doesn’t that happen every year? Yeah, kind of. However, this season, smokey eyes come in all shapes and sizes. At Prabal Gurung and Helmut Lang it was all about the smudgey, 90s grunge smoke while Alice + Olivia showcased a more polished look with softer, rounded edges and lots of lashes.
The point is that if you’re a smokey eye fan, this is your time to shine with different types of smoke. And what better way than with The Smokeshow which comes with everything you need (concealer, eye shadows, brush, the lot!) to create any number of different looks. Get experimenting, people!
The Trend: Accessories All Areas
If there’s one hair trend to embrace for fall, it’s accessories. Seen at almost every catwalk show imaginable bobs, ballerina buns, high ponytails and slick, wet look hair were all adorned with some kind of hair accessory. Summer’s celeb accessory of choice, the bow, is set to continue, but headbands, head scarves, pearls, scrunchies and claw clips are also fabulous ways to dress up your do as we hit September and beyond. This just reiterates the fact that our founder and CEO, Andrea is always way ahead of the game when it comes to fashion and beauty trends. She’s been loving these Claw Hair Clips in stunning autumnal tones for a few months now.
The Trend: Off To The Ballet
Sure, winter is all about finding the perfect pair of new boots (riding and biker boots are the choices for 2024, btw), but correct us if we we’re wrong because if it feels too early for that right now.
That’s why we’re thrilled ballet flats are sticking around for another epic season of greatness. A Kate Moss staple in the aughts, this is a trend that’s been thriving all year, probably because ballet flats are a timeless classic – especially if you’re lucky/rich enough to afford a pair of Chanels! They look great with dresses, but equally as fabulous with jeans and a tee. Try our current favorites, The Demi Jane from Margaux which come in many colors and styles including woven brown (above), baby pink mesh and solid olive green. So freakin’ cute. Comfy, too.
The Trend: Drainpipe Denim
Baggy, barrel-shaped and straight-leg jeans are going nowhere, but if Miu Miu’s fall runway was anything to go by, skinny jeans are set to make a massive resurgence at the end of the year. And if we’ve learnt anything from last time around, it’s that skinny jeans need to be made really well, with good stretch (but not too much) so you can stand and sit without revealing all, and they must always have very well-placed back pockets to flatter the booty in the best way possible.
Where do we always go for super-soft, fail-safe denim? Mother. Every time. Try the Mid Rise Rider Skimp which are the perfect combination of straight and skinny, adding comfort, style and zero chances of revisiting that awful ‘whale tail.’ And don’t even pretend you don’t remember what that was because we definitely don’t believe you.
The Trend: Berry Nice Lips
Remember that ‘it’ color we spoke of earlier? Burgundy is also your go-to for lips this season. But don’t worry about perfecting intricate lip liner and dark berry lipstick which, let’s face it, are neither easy to nail, nor easy to wear. Instead, grab our new Spin-On Lip Gloss in Whisper.
One of three awesome new shades launched just last month, Whisper is the perfect (no exaggeration) mix of berry-red pigment and long-lasting shine. Like all of our new, improved glosses, it also contains hyaluronic acid to keep your lips hydrated and moisturized when the weather starts to conspire against you.
The Trend: Faux Show
A new coat should always be top of mind when you start hitting the cooler months of the year. Yes, jean jackets never fail and sure, blazers are always in style, but still, it’s nice to have a new one to make you really get into the seasonal spirit of things, right? Well, whatever you go for this fall, make sure it’s fur. Faux fur, to be exact. And if you really want to be bang-on-trend, make it brown and cuddly, almost bear-like!
We can’t get enough of this Donna Salyers Chateau Quilted Faux Fur Hooded Coat right now and, as much as we love the summer, we’re willing (well, almost) the cooler weather to arrive so we can start wearing it on repeat.
The Trend: A Bit Of An Animal
Love it or hate it (we love, btw!), it’s hard to escape the leopard print trend that started this summer and is going to continue well into fall and winter. It’s literally everywhere from belts and headbands, to sneakers and dresses!
We can’t stop eyeing up the Isabel Marant Lisanne satin max skirt which is like grown-up leopard print – but with a pricetag to match, gulp! So, while we start frantically saving, we’re going all in with this equally as fabulous but much more affordable dress from Zara. Just add biker boots and sunnies.
The Trend: Color-Pop Earrings
Large, colorful earrings that aren’t studs but aren’t really danglies, are a major trend to know for the latter part of 2024. Slightly chunky and almost button-like, they feel like a nod to the ‘80s without going too Working Girl on us.
If you fancy embracing two jewelry trends-in-one, make yours as vibrant as you dare. Bold colors are a great way to add color to your clothes and makeup without screaming ‘I’ve arrived!’ Our tip for fall? These beautiful marbled resin Sezanne Kiana Earrings in brick red. Sure, they may look like they’d totally weigh your ears down, but get this. They won’t.
The Trend: Winged Eyeliner
You rarely have to look far to see winged eyeliner on the catwalks. And for 2024, they were all over the F/W shows.
The good thing about winged eyeliner is that it can be easily tailored to suit you. If a full-on wing is not your thing, keep it subtle with a kitten-style liner that flicks up just slightly at the outer corners of your eyes. Prefer something a bit more edgy? Then you can line both the top and bottom lashline, taking your flick out a smidge further. You can even use a bit of color or some metallic shades if you’re feeling adventurous. Just, whatever you do, make sure you’re using the right brush for the job. Namely, The Arc Brush whose curved, C-shaped bristles allow you to create the quickest flick of your life. Simply press it into your eye shadow, position the bristles against the outer edge of your upper lash line and stamp your flick into place.
One. And done.
