HOW TO USE OUR EYELINER BRUSHES FOR DIFFERENT LOOKS

Did you know, we have no less than four makeup brushes crafted specifically for your eyes? Actually, there are five if you count our awesome Secret Brush, but she’s a whole different does-it-all brush on her own! So, if we’re talking specific eye brushes, we’re back to four. Which is still a lot. What’s more, every single one of them is double-ended with one end created specifically to line your eyes.

So how do you navigate your way around them all? And do you even need a brush to line your eyes?

Why Eyeliner Brushes Are Better Than Eye Pencils

Eye pencils are great and, don’t get us wrong, they get the job done. But they’re not without their faults. For starters, they can be quite hard causing them to drag the skin as you work them around your eyes – not ideal for this delicate area. They can also get kind of stuck, ruining your perfect line and leaving you with dips and gaps you have to keep going over. So. Very. Tiresome.

Using a brush, however, that’s dipped in a highly pigmented eye shadow (btw, we can also help with that, right here!) is much gentler on your skin. Bristles are way more flexible than a pencil tip, allowing you to glide color over the skin with no shaking, no skin damage and no slip-ups. You can also use the exact same color you used on your lids to create no end of eye looks, from subtle to dramatic and everything in between. It’s a win-win.

Which Eyeliner Brush Is Right For You?

That’s all well and good but how are you supposed to know what kind of looks you should expect from each of our four incredible eye lining gems? Good question. That’s why we figured it was time to take a deeper dive into each eye brush to explain everything you need to know.

The Corner Brush & The Arc Brush

OK, first, let’s talk about our one-of-a-kind brushes, The Corner Brush and The Arc Brush. We hate to group these two Woosh-exclusive, patented brushes together because they’re very different. But for the purpose of this piece, we have to. Why? Because while the main brushes are absolutely unique, nestling at the other end is the exact same eyeliner brush.

Quick refresh: The Corner Brush is literally (no exaggeration) the ONLY brush in the world that marks out the exact angle for perfect eye shadow placement.

Meanwhile The Arc Brush is C-shaped to fit the contours of your eyes and help you create everything from an instant cat eye to a contoured smoke.

Both, however, have the same, beautifully soft, angled eyeliner brush at the other end, crafted to make lining your eyes easy and mess-free. Why the same? Because once we’d mastered the shape, firmness and angle of this brush, we knew it was so good, we had to do it twice!

The Liner Lowdown

  • The thinnest of them all
  • Softly angled for precision and simplicity
  • Creates delicate lines that are easy to build
  • Best For: Tight lines that get right into your lashline
  • Sidenote: ALL of our bristles are handmade, using synthetic fibers that are kind to your skin and kind to our furry friends.

The Essential Eye Brush

Next up we have our Essential Eye Brush which is your go-to for creating endless eye looks for every occasion. Full disclosure, it doesn’t come with a patented, fancy-angled brush at one end like our Arc and Corner Brushes, but sometimes simple is just as good. And the fat, rounded end of this eye makeup brush is precisely shaped to help guide and blend your eye shadow exactly where you want it. No messing about, no leaving messes behind.

But what about the eyeliner brush, which is what we’re here for after all? Similar to the Arc and Corner Brushes, the eyeliner end of The Essential Eye Brush is wide, flat and angled for ease. What makes it different, however, is that it has a slightly sharper angle and more bristles which create a thicker, chunkier brush.

The Liner Lowdown

  • Has a thick, angled tip
  • Strong angle makes it great for getting into corners
  • More bristles = thicker lines
  • Best for: a soft, smudgy line

The Eye Detailer Brush

Last, but certainly not least is the baby of our eye brush family, The Eye Detailer Brush. Small, but never to be underestimated, this detailing brush is also double-ended – because that’s the kind of helpful folk we are. The main end is a small, precision brush for blending eye shadow, smoking out the corners or adding shape into the crease of your eyes. It’s also super soft, like puppy dog’s ears and hard to resist playing with. Just try it.

Flip the brush over and at the other end you’ll find a mini-me version of the same precision brush, softly rounded , but less than half the size to create the most beautiful smudged line around your lashes.

The Liner Lowdown

  • Has a small, bullet-shaped tip
  • Lines the eyes AND blends eye shadow
  • Highlights the inner corners perfectly
  • Best for: thicker, soft focus lines

5 Tips For Eyeliner Perfection

1. Always lean your elbow on a flat surface to steady your arm and avoid shaky hands.

2. Concentrate on the outside corner of each eye first, then work your brush inwards, keeping the brush as close to the lashline as you can.

3. For a strong, bold line, dampen your brush with clean water before dipping it into your eye shadow.

4. Don’t worry if you’re no good at lining in one clean sweep. A great trick is to draw shorter dashes along the lashline first, then connect them together afterwards.

5. Not keen on black eyeliner? Try lining your eyes with a blend of brown AND black eye shadow. Woosh founder, Andrea loves this trick as it adds definition but gives warmth and softness to the overall look.
